Why The
Faith Foundry podcast?
Even before we were reluctantly dragged into virtual meetings, the church was swept by waves of ‘deconstructing’ what it means to be a Christian. We wrestle with questions like, “How do we react when churches oppress, hate, or ostracize those who disagree with them?” “Are we living like Jesus wanted?” “Are Sunday meetings what the church is supposed to be about?” And “How do we respond when leaders let us down, hurt us, abuse their authority or behave in ways that violate everything they claim to stand for?” Sometimes it feels like the Christian world is collapsing around us.
Maybe
it is.
As odd as it seems, all these things conspiring together may prophetically turn out to be a good thing. I believe God is calling His people to re-examine the presuppositions our faith and practice are built upon. Some things we believed were important have turned out to be resting on sand and have not been able to support us through life’s storms. Scripture tells us about this in Hebrews 12, “now he has issued a promise in the following words: “One more time I will shake not only the earth but heaven as well.
The phrase, “one more time” shows that the things that are to be shaken (that is the created things) will be taken away, so that the things that cannot be shaken will remain.” (Heb. 12:26-27 KNT) Notice that God promises to shake not only earthly things, but heavenly things too; things we may believe are eternal, but they are not!
That’s what The Faith Foundry
podcast is all about.
We are investing the time, finding the heart and mustering the courage to allow our heavenly Father to bring us through the process of shaking; rethinking and rebuilding an authentic faith that rests (as much as we can know) in the eternal Kingdom! We are confident in this process because “we are to receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken! This calls for gratitude! That’s how to offer God true and acceptable worship, reverently and with fear.” (Heb. 12:28 KNT)
